Supported Resource Formats
The five resource types a copilot can hold and the file formats each accepts, with links to size limits and format guidance.
Every piece of documentation you add to a copilot is a resource. InSkill has five resource types.
| Type | Formats | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Document | PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, TSV, text, RTF, Markdown, HTML, and JSON | A PDF opens in the browser and can open at a specific page. See Adding Documents. |
| Video | MP4 | Uploaded to InSkill. A video hosted on YouTube or Vimeo is added as a URL instead. See Adding Videos. |
| Image | JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, and TIFF | Photos, diagrams, drawings, and schematics. Images aren't parsed; select Searchable and add keywords or a description so InSkill GPT can find one. See Adding Images. |
| URL | A link to a web page or a hosted video | InSkill GPT does not read the linked page. See Adding URLs. |
| Dynamic | Rich text, Markdown, or HTML written in InSkill | There is no file to upload. Content written in English is translated automatically. See Adding Dynamic Resources. |
Size Limits and InSkill GPT Support
Not every format can be read by InSkill GPT. A file it cannot read can still be uploaded and opened by a Technician, but its contents are not used to answer questions. Files lists every extension with its size limit, whether InSkill GPT can read it, and whether it opens in the browser or downloads.
Choosing a Format
If content already exists in a format, keep it as it is. For new content — including tables, large datasets, and material that changes often — see Content Best Practices.
