Using AI to Create Expertise

Turn scattered shift logs, documents, videos, and spreadsheets into Tasks, Field Cards, and Solutions with AI, in four stages.

Most factories already hold the knowledge they need, but it's scattered across paper, video, spreadsheets, and documents. AI turns those raw records into Tasks, Field Cards, and Solutions in four stages.

Follow these four stages in order:

  1. Gather and Digitize the Sources
  2. Consolidate into a Catalog
  3. Route Each Item to the Right Skill
  4. Generate and Upload

Gather and Digitize the Sources

Start by digitizing everything as it is.

SourceWhat to do
Paper: shift logs, photocopied SOPs, checklistsScan or photograph it, then read the handwriting into text.
Video: phone clips, training recordingsTranscribe it and pull out key frames.
SpreadsheetsRead the rows, and keep embedded photos attached to the right row.
Manuals and documentsExtract the text, tables, and figures.
Languages and slangKeep the original wording, and terms like muela or gomera, alongside the translation.
TraceabilityGive every fragment a source ID, date, line, and machine, so every claim can be traced back to where it came from.

Consolidate into a Catalog

The AI turns hundreds of raw entries into a few hundred distinct topics. It:

  • Groups repeated reports of the same fault across lines and shifts.
  • Counts how often each cause and fix appears.
  • Matches photos to the events they show.
  • Builds a catalog of items, each with its supporting evidence.

Route Each Item to the Right Skill

SkillWhat it gets
Task skillWork that needs a sequence, recorded results, sign-off, or a report: procedures, inspections, rounds, readings, parts selection, and courses. See Creating Tasks with Claude.
Field Card skillReference knowledge, photo-heavy fault diagnosis, and simple procedures: fault, procedure, atlas, alarm, settings, parts, and lockout cards. See Field Cards.
Solution skillShort, text-only symptom-and-fix entries. See Solutions.

Generate and Upload

Each skill:

  • Applies its own format, and writes in English. When you ask for it, the skill also writes a version in the language of the source expertise.
  • Tags every value taken from the logs as a field value to be confirmed.
  • Flags anything the AI added rather than found in the sources.
  • Uploads to the right InSkill copilot with the correct visibility, keywords, and metadata.
  • Cross-links related content, so a Fault Card points to the Task that fixes it, and a Solution points to the Atlas Card that shows the part.
